GOOD To Contribute: Wilton Food Pantry Needs Donations to Prevent the “Summer Slide”

As summer arrives, donations to the Wilton Food Pantry often decrease while the need for assistance remains strong. Families who rely on school meal programs may face additional challenges during the summer months, making community support more important than ever.

Members of the community can help prevent the “summer slide” in food donations by contributing much-needed pantry staples. The Wilton Food Pantry is currently seeking:

  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned soups
  • Canned meats
  • Tuna fish
  • Shelf-stable meals
  • Pasta and rice
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Other non-perishable food items

“Every donation helps ensure that local families have access to nutritious food throughout the summer,” Social Services Director Stephanie Rowe said. “Please consider donating during your next shopping trip and help keep pantry shelves stocked for those in need.” In addition to donating items directly to the food pantry, the community can mail donation checks, made out to Wilton Community Assistance Fund, to P.O. Box 7051, Wilton CT, 06897 or purchase items on the Food Pantry Amazon Wishlist.”
