GOOD To Have Community Conversations: Talking about Kids’ Mental Health

In 2021, Fairfield’s Kevin Kuczo, at the age of 17, lost his battle with depression. His parents started Kevin’s Afterglow to encourage open conversations about mental health.
Kevin’s father Jim Kuczo will be in Wilton to discuss the pressures facing kids today, suicide warning signs, prevention and how to seek help. The community is invited to join the conversation about Kevin and his family’s experience, the importance of being kinder and more empathetic, the bond of family and community, coping after death and loss, and mental illness and suicide warning signs as well as actions to help.
The event is on Tuesday, June 9 at 7 p.m., at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
GOOD To Celebrate: Participants Sought for Wilton’s July 4th “America 250” Parade

Wilton officials are working on events for this year’s special July 4th celebration of America 250, the commemoration of America’s 250th Birthday.
Parade co-chairs Steve Pierce, Wilton’s Parks and Recreation Department director, and Pam Brown, the executive administrator of Wilton Congregational Church, are inviting residents and community organizations to participate in the town’s July 4th Parade. “Whether through a float, marching group, music, historical reenactment or a creative display, your participation helps make this tradition meaningful for the entire community,” Pierce and Brown said in a letter to the community.
The parade will begin in Wilton Center at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4. starting in front of the Wilton River Park Shopping Center at 5 River Rd., and proceed through town along Old Ridgefield Rd. and Hubbard Rd., to end at the Town Green. There, the celebration will continue with a reading of the Declaration of Independence, live music and celebratory cupcakes and cookies.
A special invitation is extended to families and children to join in the parade with a Bicycle Brigade Contest. Participants can decorate their bicycles, tricycles and wagons to show their patriotic spirit.
Interested participants can register on the Parks and Recreation website or contact Pierce via email before June 20. Email Pierce or Brown with any questions.
GOOD To Watch the Road: DPW Announces Two Road Construction Projects

Wilton’s Department of Public Works is overseeing two road construction projects in Wilton over the next several months.
Cannon Rd. Bridge Reconstruction
A portion of Cannon Rd. between the Metro North Train Tracks and Pimpewaug Rd. is scheduled to be closed beginning Wednesday, June 3, and will remain closed for approximately 18 months while the Cannon Rd. Bridge over the Norwalk River is removed and reconstructed.
Access will be maintained to the Cannondale Train Station as well as for businesses and residences in the vicinity of the work area throughout the course of the project. Signage will be in place for official detour route while the road is closed.
Refer to the DPW project webpage on the Town website (wiltonct.gov) for updates.
Aquarion Water Company New Canaan Rd./Rte. 106 Construction
