Wilton’s own Emily Gluckin wants to help Detroit, and she’s hoping Wilton residents can help her get there by casting votes on Facebook.
A member of the Wilton High School class of 2011, Emily is soon to graduate from the University of Vermont with a degree in environmental studies and an ambition for a career in sustainable community development. She has been selected as a semi-finalist for a fellowship with “Challenge Detroit,” an urban revitalization project that brings together bright and innovative thinkers to spend a year working in the greater Detroit area.
“Living in a town like Wilton and, when I was younger, a city like Zurich, Switzerland, has given me an appreciation for the many different ways a community can enrich the lives of its residents. Detroit has plenty of challenges, but it has enormous potential as well, and I want to help turn it into a model of smart planning and resiliency,” Emily says.
