ORIGINAL STORY:  The Annual Wilton DTC Fall BBQ will be taking place this Saturday, Sept. 6 from 12-3 p.m. at Merwin Meadows Park. The event marks the first major event of the fall campaign season.

U.S. Congressman Jim Himes has confirmed that he will attend, according to the DTC release.

Whether you are a Democrat or an unaffiliated voter, the DTC is inviting everyone to meet local elected officials and the slate of Democratic candidates for the 2014 elections.

“The annual barbecue is one of the highlights of the year. It is a great opportunity to meet the candidates and fellow Wiltonians, and to get excited for the fall campaign,” said Tom Dec, chair of the Wilton DTC.

Other notable attendees include CT Attorney General George Jepsen, Democratic State party chair Nancy DiNardo, candidate for the 26th Senatorial district Phil Sharlach, and candidate for the 143rd Assembly District Keith Rodgerson.

The DTC has also invited other elected officials from Hartford and Washington, including Gov. Dan Malloy, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Sen. Chris Murphy, and other state constitutional officers.

The DTC has also scheduled live music for the fall BBQ for the first time, through the performance of Greg Oliveras, a Wilton High School alumnus and local musician. Oliveras recently composed and released his first recorded tracks and frequently performs throughout Fairfield County and New York City.

Online presale tickets for the BBQ are $35 for adults and $10 for students and children. Tickets at the door are $45 for adults. Tickets can be purchased online at the our Wilton Democrats’ website.
