Just last Thursday, May 3, ASML Wilton broke ground on its 700-space parking structure. In attendance were First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice and Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4), joining executives from the company to help with the ceremonial first shovel.
The new parking structure will be built on ASML’s current location at 77 Danbury Rd..
In February, ASML announced plans to extensively expand its facility and hire more than 500 new employees. Last week’s event was the realization of the first phase of the plan–breaking ground on a new parking lot structure and expanding three floors of the company’s office and manufacturing space.
The structure will provide more than 550 additional spots to accommodate ASML Wilton’s growing workforce. The lot is expected to be completed by December 2018. The expanded office and manufacturing areas will add more than 45,000 sq. ft. of work space across three floors; completion of those sections is expected by March 2019.
Company executives have reinforced their happiness being located in Wilton.
“We are very committed to Connecticut and as a one-of-a-kind, high-tech company and top employer in state, we are proud to call Wilton our home,” said Bill Amalfitano, GM of ASML Wilton. “We received funding from the State of Connecticut and Gov. Malloy to support our growth and expansion efforts. We look forward to adding more professionals to our family as we continue to drive the technology industry forward by delivering some of the most amazing machines that you will ever see to pattern semiconductor chips, and the software to run them.”
In first quarter of 2018, ASML Wilton hired 70 new full-time employees and currently has more than 160 active job openings in advanced manufacturing and engineering. The company’s headcount grew 24% in 2017.
Vanderslice said the town is very appreciative of ASML’s decision to expand in Wilton.
“We recognize our good fortunate in having such an outstanding and innovative company as our largest employer. We congratulate ASML on their project and look forward to many more years of success in Wilton.”
Himes agreed.
“ASML Wilton is the perfect example of business growth that is possible here in the great state of Connecticut,” Himes said. “Not only does the company have unique semiconductor technology, but it also has a unique approach to recruiting all the amazing talent required to achieve its expansion goals. ASML Wilton focuses on finding talent with a great attitude and invests in training the required skillset in order for each individual to succeed. I’m proud to have the company in my district.”
