To commemorate 9/11, the Wilton Historical Society is offering a Star Spangled Banner workshop for children ages 6-12 this Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. The children will be making a simple but appealing banner project that incorporates patriotic colors and stars.
In the United States, Patriot Day, observed as the National Day of Service and Remembrance, occurs on Sept. 11 of each year in memory of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the 2001 September 11 attacks. As they make their banner, the children will be hearing about how we observe 9/11 with flags at half-staff, ceremonies of reading names, and service. In addition, the children will be making their snack–star-shaped sugar cookies.
The cost for Wilton Historical Society members is $10/child, with a maximum of $25 per family; the non-member cost is $15/child, and a maximum of $35 per family.
Participants can register via email or call 203.762.7257. Wilton Historical Society is located at 224 Danbury Rd..
