For more than 20 years, Hattie E. Pascarelli worked at the Village Market, making friends and striking up conversations with co-workers and shoppers, and, according to general manager Nancy Dolnier, cultivating a large following of fans.

All those fans are mourning Pascarelli’s passing. In this week’s circular ad, the store notified customers that Hattie had died.

Hattie, age 74, was born in Norwalk and was a lifelong resident of Westport. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, Oct. 19.

Hattie was well known in Westport. She was involved with Westport P.A.L., the Italian Festival and the Yankee Doodle Fair. She was a great mother, grandmother and friend to all. She enjoyed all the holidays, but especially Memorial Day and Halloween. She loved making button earrings, doing puzzles and playing bingo.

Hattie was the loving wife of the late Robert C. Pascarelli, Sr., and she is survived by her devoted family:  one son, Michael Pascarelli and his wife, Jennifer of Fairfield; two daughters, Pamela Pascarelli and her partner, Laura Scaife of Ansonia, and Jodi Lynn Soto and her husband, Cheebo of Stratford; three cherished grandchildren–Kelly Ann O’Connor of Westport, Avery and Austin Pascarelli and the twins on the way; two sisters, Adrianna Pastore of Stratford and Roberta Pascale, formerly of Westport; her best friend, Linda Amos of Westport and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert C. Pascarelli, Jr. and her six brothers and sisters.

The funeral was held on Oct. 24. Donations may be made in her memory to Vitas Hospice, 488 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851; the Norma E. Pfriem Breast Care Center, 111 Beach Road, #5, Fairfield, CT 06824; or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96001, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
