The inaugural Wilton Cup Cricket Tournament brought competition and community together at Allen’s Meadows over the weekend while raising money for two Wilton organizations. Organized by the Wilton Warrior Cricket Club (WWCC) as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebration, the event benefited the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WVAC) and the Wilton Parks and Recreation scholarship program for a Wilton High School graduating senior.
The tournament was the first held on the new cricket pitch that was installed at Allen’s Meadows, thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department. With growing interest in cricket in Wilton and surrounding towns, WWCC’s Vimal Sharma said the growing community around the sport has been exciting to see.

Organizers of the tournament presented a $3,337 donation to WVAC from the proceeds in honor of the organization’s 50th anniversary and gave $2,000 for the Parks and Recreation scholarship fund.
“As we celebrate WVAC’s 50th anniversary, we’re incredibly grateful for the generosity and support of organizations like the Wilton Warrior Cricket Club,” WVAC President Kevin Kelly said. “Their members’ commitment to giving back reflects the very best of our community.”
