GOOD Morning Wilton is excited to launch a new weekly series in cooperation with Wilton Go Green, featuring weekly tips to help teach readers more about environmental sustainability and eco-awareness. The program will also involve the Middlebrook School Recycling Club and its student members.
The tips will feature a range of easy and earth-friendly, sustainable ideas that can save Wilton residents and homeowners money while improving their quality of life. The Middlebrook recycling club will help tell the story by taking photos and contributing ideas for each article.
Wilton Go Green vice president Jana Berktau was excited about helping to spread more green information in Wilton, a community she said is already very environmentally aware. The element of incorporating students was something that the group was also thrilled about.
“We are delighted to see this next generation of environmentalists stepping up to educate their schoolmates, their families and the wider Wilton Community about sustainable living,” Berktau said. “These young people can help us reach out to a wider audience to fulfill our vision — Wilton will be the most environmentally sustainable town in CT.”
Janet Nobles, the advisor of the Middlebrook Recycling Club said of the collaboration with Wilton Go Green and GOOD Morning Wilton, “The students have an opportunity to influence adults in their community. It is an empowering position for them, and they take their role very seriously!”
The tips will appear every Wednesday, beginning next week on Oct. 15.
