Wilton Congregational Church is holding its 49th Annual Coat and Linens Drive beginning this Sunday, Nov. 3rd and they are asking for donations of linens and bedding, and outerwear for adults and children. The items they are accepting are coats and jackets for men, women, and children; snow pants, hats, and mittens; and bedding (sheets, blankets, comforters), towels and sleeping bags.

The drive is scheduled to run from Sunday through Tuesday, Nov. 5. Area residents who would like to make a difference this fall can do so by bringing their gently used items in clean, good condition to the Wilton Congregational Church at 70 Ridgefield Rd during those days.

The church will be delivering collected items to area residents in need. Beneficiaries of this year’s drive are clients of Wilton Social Services, the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.

“Wilton is always generous in supporting the drive,” said Genevieve Eason, the drive’s organizer. “Last year’s drive was held during the power outage in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, and still people came with armloads of donations. Even then, people in town were thinking about those less fortunate.”

The coat drive’s hours are Sunday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Wilton residents unable to get to the church on those days can call to arrange for pick up of donations, by contacting Eason at 203-761-9199 or Genevieve.Eason@gmail.com, or call the church office at 203.762.5591 with questions.
