The 39th Annual Wilton High School Jazz Symposium will be held on Friday, Feb. 27 from 4-10 p.m., at the high school’s Clune Center. Regional high school jazz groups will perform, including Wilton High School’s Jazz I and II Bands.
During the event, the student jazz bands from the area play and then receive a critique of their performance. The final performance of the night features Big Band music from the Berkshire Big Band, directed by Chip Zellner. The symposium is a free event, but donations to the music program are always welcome.
Rust Muirhead has a son who participates in Wilton High School’s jazz program, but he’s been a fan even longer.
“I’ve long felt that it doesn’t get enough recognition. It’s a great format. Some years I’ll watch a couple bands in the afternoon and then leave and come back after dinner and watch the last few. It really is a great event and one that is unique to Wilton.”
