As Kimco Realty moves ahead with its plans to demolish its Wilton River Park building at 21 River Rd. for redevelopment of the property into apartments, the remaining retail tenants in the building will soon have to vacate the premises. But when it comes time for customers of Starbucks‘ Wilton Center location to find their favorite tall cappuccino or grande latte, they won’t have a ‘latte’ to worry about, because Starbucks is moving right across the street.
According to an application filed with Wilton’s Planning and Zoning Commission, Starbucks is planning to relocate to the building across the street, in the visible corner location that features a tall, curved wall of windows looking out on River Rd.
The special permit application includes renderings of what the exterior storefront will look like as well as floor plan that provides for 21 seats inside the restaurant and 21 additional seats on the patio outside.
Construction has already begun inside the space. Windows have been covered with paper to prevent any work from being visible.
The application will be accepted at tonight’s (Monday, Apr. 28) P&Z Commission meeting, which can be viewed live by the public on Zoom.
