Kimco Realty, the commercial real estate company that owns the Wilton River Park Complex in Wilton Center, is renewing its focus on the Wilton property.

They’ve scheduled the first promotional event which company spokespeople say, is the first of more to come. This Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6-8 p.m., Wilton residents are invited to a Sip & Shop for tastings, special discounts, drink specials and more, all to encourage Wilton residents to shop local. Several retailers and eateries are joining in the fun, offering promotions:

  • Free Prosecco will be given out at Chou Chou, Snappy Gator and Campus Jewelers
  • Chou Chou and Snappy Gator are offering 15% off
  • Campus Jewelers is offering 30% off
  • Sola Salons will be giving out a discount coupon for new customers
  • Sweet Pierre‘s will offer Chocolate Martinis, Chocolate Tastings and 10% off
  • Craft 14 Kitchen & Bar and Cactus Rose will offer drink specials
  • Free wine tasting and discounts on 6 or more bottles purchased at Ancona’s

As part of the promotion, parents are invited to drop off their children at Happy Hands Pottery for a special “Kids Night Out” event to paint pottery, eat pizza and watch a movie, so kids can have fun too, all while giving parents the opportunity to shop. (Registration is $25 per child.)

Outreach and Increased Community Involvement

Kimco Realty is also working on increasing its involvement in the community and help to support a wide range of merchants and restaurants in the heart of Wilton’s town center who rent space in the Wilton River Park complex. In order to better engage with the Wilton community, Kimco has hired local resident, Sarah McCall, who has an extensive background in marketing and events and has been very involved and engaged in the Wilton community since moving here four years ago.

McCall was hired to provide marketing and event support for the businesses in the Wilton River Park Complex, and to engage marketing partners and community organizations in collaborative promotions. She is currently working on a series of year-long events and promotions to encourage Wilton residents to shop local with the Kimco tenants. Her goal, she says, is to partner with various Wilton organizations and retailers, as well as working with the schools, to provide exposure and opportunities for town engagement.

Among some of the initiatives, Kimco will be sponsoring a Wilton Little League team, sponsoring a banner at the Wilton High School Veterans’ Memorial Football stadium and Lilly Field, and participating in the Wilton Chamber of Commerce Halloween Parade.

Kimco is actively working to secure new tenants for open spaces, but in the mean time will use one of the still vacant spaces for a local art gallery called Sprouting Spaces, to feature local artists. In addition, Kimco will open up one of the other vacant spaces for a photo booth and costume contest during the annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Wilton Center.

Kimco is offering a third opportune use of a vacant space to local businesses by settin-up a pop-up shop in one of the open spaces for a select amount of time. For information on a pop-up shop, contact Amy Daniels via phone 516.869.7195 or email.
