Landmark Preschool’s Parents Association has organized an opportunity for local families to help out the community while having fun in advance of this Sunday’s Super Bowl. They’re asking the community to donate cans of soup for a “Souper Bowl” to benefit local food pantries. In addition, Landmark is collecting disposable infant and toddler sized spoons for the Pediatric Unit at Norwalk Hospital.

Rachel Sondheimer and Jessica Brooks (Community Service Committee Chairs) became aware of the need for disposable smaller sized spoons while dropping off other toy donations. Sondheimer explained, “When Landmark director Ann Hirsch suggested the soup drive, we made the connection between the pantries’ need for food and the hospital’s need for spoons/utensils. They just seem to go together well.”

“Landmark Preschool is pleased to provide our families with opportunities to help our community. When Dr. Sondheimer and Mrs. Brooks approached us with this idea we jumped at the chance to give our students and families another opportunity to serve others in our community,” said Hirsch, director of Landmark Preschool’s Redding Campus in Georgetown. “This community service project allows us to reinforce our giving philosophy with our children and we especially appreciate giving our students the opportunity to help children their own age.”

Cans of food and spoons can be dropped off at Landmark’s Georgetown campus at 20 Portland Ave. through Friday, Jan. 30.
