To the Editor:

On Saturday, March 2, the historic buildings of the Wilton Historical Society were transformed into a journey through time for our first annual “Taste in Time” benefit cocktail party. Our guests explored some of our town’s oldest buildings as they were immersed in a Victorian ballroom, a Colonial tavern, and a 1920s speakeasy.

The staff and board of the Wilton Historical Society would like to thank everyone who attended, especially those who dressed in period costumes! Additional thanks to our major sponsors, Tauck, TD Bank, Orem’s Diner, Kumon of Wilton, Gregory and Adams, PC, and the Robert Russell Family Fund who support our work of preserving Wilton’s history, and connecting, engaging and educating all who would look to the past to shape the future.

The gift basket drawing was a highlight of the evening, with themed baskets including a pet-friendly cornucopia of gifts from Invisible Fence, a cozy-themed basket filled with teas from Bigelow and coffee from Nova Cafe, and a ‘Try Something New’ basket with stretches from Vital Stretch and tickets to plays at Lachat Town Farm and Westport Playhouse.

This event was created by the society’s board of trustees, museum staff, museum volunteers, President Nancy Perez, and the Development and Party Planning Committees. Together they embraced a new vision for celebrating our shared history and building a thriving community.

We have many more exciting upcoming events over the summer starting with a Victorian Tea on Saturday, May 11 and an exhibition about working and living in Wilton starting in April. Please check out our website and join us!
