To the Editor:

The Wilton Rotary Club once again wishes to thank the Wilton community for its support and patronage at this past weekend’s carnival, especially those who braved Saturday’s rather iffy weather. One hundred percent of the net revenues raised from the carnival, just like those from all of our fund raisers, are turned over to the Wilton Rotary Foundation to fund scholarships for local students and to provide assistance for charitable organizations mostly in Wilton but also in the wider world, including our support of the efforts of Rotary International to eradicate polio from the face of the earth.

We could not sponsor the carnival each year without the substantial assistance and full co-operation of the Town of Wilton, starting with the First Selectman’s office, but also including the Police Department, the Fire Department, the Department of Public Works, which arranged for a water hookup from the pump house on the south side of School Road, and the Department of Public Works. Thanks also to the Wilton Family Y for the use of its picnic tables, to the Glen Gate Company for use of its vehicles to transport the tables to and from the Y, to Vento Refuse for the use of a dumpster, at no charge. Thanks to Creative Catering (the Burrito Shack on Route 7) for providing food and drinks throughout the carnival. We must also thank Heather Borden Herve with GOOD Morning Wilton and Jennifer Angerame at HamletHubWilton for helping with publicity, and the many other individuals, some not currently members of our Club, who volunteered when asked. No one in a position to provide us assistance turned us down – we are so fortunate to live and work in Wilton.

Charitable organizations interested in receiving grants from our Club’s Foundation may find the application forms on our website – Wiltonrotary.org.) Grant requests for 2013 awards should be received by November 1.
