To the Editor:
On behalf of the Wilton Education Foundation, we would like to thank the many organizations and people who supported the “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?” which was held on March 13.
We would like to thank Wiremill Academy and Petite Chou Chou for their wonderful live ads–the girls did a fantastic job! We are also indebted to all of our local advertisers who supported “Smarter”: Boundless Education, Ed’s Garage Doors, Blue Star Bazaar, Outdoor Sports Center, Café Ruche, Bartaco, Bob Riccio, Greene Educational Consulting, Renaissance Beauty, Med-IQ, Wilton Dance Studio, Kristine Lilly Soccer Academy, GOOD Morning Wilton, Bianco Rosso, Wilton YMCA, Wilton Children’s Theater, Jade Active Life Styles, Paul’s Prosperous Printing, Custom T’s ‘n More, Orange Theory, Custom Cookies, Conservatory of Dance, Wilton Hardware, Sun Spa and Nails, and Dr. Lewin.
The evening would not have been possible without the help of Cider Mill‘s assistant principal Catherine O’Keefe and the fifth grade teachers who administered and scored the qualification tests to over 100 fifth graders. Thank you to the fifth graders who took the test and the final 16. Very impressive!
Thank you also to our brave contestants, Jeremy Cross, Dr. Jennifer Mitchell, Maria Coleman and Dr. Kevin Smith, and to our talented emcees, Sal Giaimo and Bryan Ennis, who always put on a great show, with Matt Hepfer making sure all the electronics worked. Our gratitude also goes to Greg Theriault and Period 6 Desktop Publishing Class who laid out and created our program; Christian Planton, our theater manager; and to the entire “Smarter” team who made sure the night went off without a hitch.
Most of all we would like to thank the students and parents who support the Wilton Education Foundation through “Smarter than a 5th Grader,” “Reading Rocks!” “Get Smarter for Wilton 5K,” and our other events and programs. Your support and donations help WEF enrich the learning experiences of our students.
Kimber Felton and Carolyn Lyon
Co-Chairs, “Smarter Than a Fifth Grader”

Congratulations Kimber and Carolyn on running another great Are U Smarter program. You started on time, ended on time and the audience was enthusiastic for the whole two hours. The show also held its own running against Wilton Children’s theatre on the same night. Here’s to many more Smarter shows. Keep up the good work.
