To the Editor:

We would like to thank the amazing people of Wilton for their generosity. A Better Chance of Wilton had a successful raffle last month, raising nearly $9,000, which goes towards our operating budget and supporting the six stellar scholars currently enrolled at Wilton High School.

Our annual budget of approximately $200,000 comes entirely from our community through private donations from individuals and organizations.

The lucky winners of the 2024 raffle are as follows:

  • Laurie Crimmins of Wilton: $200 Outdoor Sports Center gift certificate
  • Warren Serenbetz of Wilton: Heybike Cityscape 2.0 electric bike
  • Kari Roberts of Wilton: Three-day escape to Cape Cod

We would like to thank David and Marylynn Clune for the generous donation of their Cape Cod home. In addition, we would like to thank the businesses that support A Better Chance of Wilton and allow us to sell raffle tickets at their locations: Village Market, Connecticut Coffee and Stop & Shop.

Since 1996, A Better Chance of Wilton has welcomed highly motivated high school students of color with the opportunity to live in Wilton and obtain an exemplary education that may not be available to them in their home districts. These highly motivated young women seek better educational opportunities and broaden their life experiences through A Better Chance of Wilton.

We are always looking for volunteers and are in need of drivers, tutors, host families, grant writers and other fundraising support. If you would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities with A Better Chance of Wilton, please reach out to us via email.
