To the Editor:
Simply stated… the more I read of Wilton’s governmental activities in GOOD Morning Wilton the more frustrated and helpless I feel as a taxpaying resident.
My belief… there is no end in sight to securing and cleaning up the mess Wilton’s current officials have created. If anything, more self inflicted problems and fallout are ahead.
Furthermore, I fear for what a future administration in town will be confronted with. Anyone who would be interested and willing to run for office is going to be met with a mountain of deep rooted problems.
No one wanted to run for first selectman in the last election. The town needs serious, strong transparent governance. The Republican Party basically appointed a less than enthusiastic Toni Boucher to the first selectman position. Running unopposed she only had to vote for herself to win. She’s openly and often stated what she stepped into is not what her party leadership advised would be the essence of the job. Toni had name recognition but she’s proven plainly… she’s not the right person to be leading a town administration. The Democrats did not have a candidate in the race. So effectively there was no race.
Will anyone, able, competent and of appropriate temperament run for the first selectman position in the next cycle?
Wilton’s future depends on it!
