To the Editor:
On Saturday, June 3, Acoustic Wilton helped celebrate the end of Wilton Playshop’s season by performing a benefit concert to a nearly sold out crowd of music lovers. All proceeds were donated to The Wilton Playshop, a non-for profit theater staffed exclusively by volunteers.
We were so honored to have this extraordinary group of local teen and adult singers, songwriters and musicians led by Joni Wallace fill the theater with folk, pop, R&B, contemporary, and several original songs. The audience was astounded by each performance and each musician, including several alumni home from college.
Launched in 2009 by Scott Weber and Wallace, Acoustic Wilton is a group of 30-plus Wilton teen and adult musicians and singers who volunteer their time and amazing talents to entertain us and raise money for Wilton schools, Wilton Education Foundation and other non-for profit organizations like The Wilton Playshop.
We would like to extend our thanks for Acoustic Wilton as well as our generous community who supported our theater this past season. Special thanks to our season sponsor, Fairfield County Bank.
Entering its 80th season as “Wilton’s Community Theater,” The Wilton Playshop is one of the longest continuously running community theaters in the Northeast. Its goal is to provide a live, quality theater experience to the Wilton area as well as support unique performance events through our APPLAUSE Series. Upcoming productions for the 2017-18 season include The New Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein, June B. in Jingle Bells Batman Smells, Buyer & Cellar and West Side Story.
Sincerely,
Donna Savage
