Make-a-Wish Grants Anna Getner’s Wish—a Wish that Helps Others
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. When Anna Getner, an 11-year-old girl from Wilton who is bravely fighting leukemia, was approached by Make-A-Wish CT, she was asked what her one true wish would be — and rather than something focused on her, Anna said her wish was to do something to help someone else.
What Anna wanted was to create a puppy play room at a dog shelter. She envisioned a place where families could enjoy time with their furry friends. Anna wanted to create an indoor dog park for all of the rescue puppies and dogs to feel comfortable and have a nice place to meet potential adopters and families. It was a natural fit for Make-A-Wish Connecticut and Wilton-based Blue Buffalo to partner on this incredible wish that not only brings endless smiles to Anna but will provide memories forever for dogs and families to experience in the community.
Earlier this fall, Blue Buffalo hosted Anna, her best friend and her family with a kick-off wish celebration to “unveil” the wish granting. Organizers shared with Anna that her wish has been granted and the construction will begin immediately for her puppy play room at a local shelter.
