Need a laugh? Join the Wilton Library on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. as they welcome comedian and author Marion Grodin. Daughter of funnyman and Wilton resident Charles Grodin, Marion knows firsthand that laughter is truly the best medicine, having not only survived breast cancer and divorce, but also various addictions. In Standing Up:  A Memoir of a Funny (Not Always) Life, she writes of a Hollywood childhood, teenage years of drugs and sex, and sober adult life on the stand-up circuit. Marion integrates her life experiences and ability to make everything funny in a way that is both entertaining and helpful.

Marion Grodin started her career as a staff writer for two network sitcoms and was later hired by 20th Century, to whom she sold six screenplays. Just as she was about to embark on her seventh, she took the plunge into stand-up and has been working as a comedian for the past 15 years.
