On April 9, newsrooms and communities across the country will mark Local News Day — a national day of action celebrating the trusted local news and information that helps communities stay informed and connected. GOOD Morning Wilton is proud to be one of over 1,300 local newsrooms participating in Local News Day.
Local News Day is built around a simple idea: Start Local.
At a time when national headlines dominate our feeds, it’s more important than ever to focus on the news close to home: the decisions affecting local schools, new businesses opening in Wilton, the community events bringing neighbors together, and the policies shaping our town.
That’s the work we try to cover every day at GOOD Morning Wilton.
Local news is common ground. It’s the place where the story isn’t us vs. them, it’s what’s happening right here and what it means for you and your family. When we share facts about our community, it’s more than headlines. It’s the information people rely on to understand Wilton and participate in civic life. It helps us stay connected and celebrate the stories that make Wilton unique.
Local news works best when it’s part of the fabric of the community it serves, and we’re proud to be the only news source that’s produced and based right here in Wilton.
We’re committed to maintaining independent journalism in Wilton, and ensuring it continues to play a vital role in our community. We do so with the financial support of readers and advertisers who value independent local journalism and how it makes a community stronger.
What’s more, we affirm that GOOD Morning Wilton will always be free to read. News is too vital to put behind a paywall and that’s why it doesn’t cost anything to subscribe to our daily newsletter.
So today, we invite you to do one simple thing: Start Local.
Read a local story. Share it with a neighbor. Support the newsroom working to keep your community informed — to keep our community informed.
Because strong communities start with strong local news.

Local News Day is the perfect occasion for all of us in Wilton to recognize Heather and the rest of GMW for all you do for our town.
We are very unusual, and immensely fortunate, to have a media outlet that regularly covers our municipal meetings, celebrates the successes and communicates the challenges of our school system, highlights new businesses opening in our town, communicates and often co-sponsors the community events of our civic organizations, and so much more.
Most small towns don’t have such an outlet. We are so fortunate that we do.
Thank you.
