Miller-Driscoll families received an email from the school’s principal Kathy Coon on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 17, with an announcement about the pending retirement of Dr. Sheelah Brown, one of M-D’s assistant principal. According to the announcement, Brown’s retirement is effective Nov. 28, and her last week at work will be next week’s shortened week.

The announcement that was emailed to parents read as follows:

Dear Miller-Driscoll Families,

With the approaching Thanksgiving holiday, we are taking the opportunity to give thanks for the 30 years of service Dr. Sheelah Brown has given Miller-Driscoll School. Last week, Dr. Brown announced her retirement effective November 28th. Although we will miss her, we know the time she will spend with her wonderful husband, eight children, and 25 grandchildren will fill her time with great joy!

Having only worked with Dr. Brown for a short time, it was obvious to me from the start how dedicated she is to this profession and the students at Miller-Driscoll. The careers she has fostered along with the relationships she has nurtured have made her a very special part of our Miller-Driscoll family.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Brown on an exceptional career!!
