Judging by the audience’s satisfaction level after last Sunday’s outdoor concert at Schenck’s Island, concert-goers might want to show up early to claim a spot this Sunday, July 23, for the second show of Wilton’s Summer Concert Series.

The concert, featuring local band, Open Road, will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Schenck’s Island with seating on the island and across the river at the Chess Park.  The concert is free and attendees are encouraged to set up blankets and chairs, bring a picnic and sit back and enjoy the music.

Parking will be available across the street from the Chess Park in the River Park Shopping Center; only handicap parking will be allowed at Schenck’s Island.

The Kiwanis Club of Wilton has been added as a sponsor of this Sunday’s concert.

“It is great to have Kiwanis as a sponsor for our second show at Schenck’s and the Chess Park. Without their generous support, we wouldn’t have the chess park, so it is wonderful they are stepping up again to support the concert in the park,” said first selectman Lynne Vanderslice.

In addition to the Kiwanis Club, the concert series is being underwritten by the Wilton Parks and Recreation Department, the FAIR Group–William Raveis Real Estate, and by a challenge donation from Lynne and Paul Vanderslice.

The town is welcoming any other corporate or individual contributions in any amount. To make a contribution, visit the Wilton Parks and Recreation website or contact Sarah Gioffre via email for information on how to make a contribution.

The final two concerts in the 2017 Summer Concert Series will be held at Merwin Meadows from 5-7 p.m., with Wilton Rocks For Food Allstars on Sunday, July 30 and One Bad Oyster on Sunday, Aug. 6. Food trucks will be on site at Merwin Meadows offering food and beverages.

If you have any questions about the concert series, please visit Parks & Rec website or contact Parks & Rec director Steve Pierce via email.
