Wilton is getting a new ice cream shop. Gofer Ice Cream, a Greenwich-based company, confirmed that a new, franchised location will open this summer at 379 Danbury Rd., in the building on Rte. 7 that is also home to Wilton Deli.

It’s a prime location for an ice cream shop–close to the high school and near Wilton playing fields and tennis courts.

The Wilton location will be the fifth Gofer Ice Cream shop in Fairfield County. This location will be owned and operated by franchisee Jordan Savitt, and is his second location coming on the heels of his purchase of the Gofer Ice Cream store in Darien in 2016.

Gofer Ice Cream opened its first store in Greenwich in 2003, and has since grown with shops also now open in Cos Cob, Stamford and Darien. It features premium hand dipped and soft serve ice cream, fat free Gofer Lite, Italian ice, smoothies and Razzles, as well as associated ice cream products and novelties through four retail locations in Southern Fairfield County. The company has won multiple “Best of the Gold Coast” awards from Moffly Media.

“We are excited to grow the company and the Gofer Ice Cream family by welcoming a new owner operator in Mr. Savitt,” says Jay Ragusa, founder and president of Gofer Ice Cream LLC. “This is a milestone for our company in that we now have independent franchisees. We look forward to awarding additional franchises in the Fairfield County area and helping other people open and operate this now proven concept. We intend to establish 8-10 locations in Connecticut.”
