Join Wilton Police Dept. at JoyRide Wilton SpinRaiser to Support Domestic Violence Crisis Center

Joyride Police spinraiser

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Wilton Police Department, Police Benevolent Association, is hosting a SpinRaiser at JoyRide Wilton to support the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) in Norwalk.

The SpinRaiser will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m..

A “SpinRaiser” is a 50-minute indoor cycling class filled with great music and led by an instructor, and all proceeds from people who ‘buy a bike’ will benefit the cause. Organizers say for anyone who’s always wanted to try spinning, this is a great excuse to help an important cause.

All funds raised will be donated to the DVCC’s mission to end Domestic Violence.

To book a bike visit the JoyRide Wilton website or call 203.529.5091, Riders can simply pay $35.00 via cash or check the evening of the event.

For anyone who can’t make it, but wishes to donate, can do so on the PBA website.

In addition, today, Tuesday, Oct. 20 during JoyRide Wilton’s morning rides, B Chic will be in the studio for an extra-special pink-themed trunk show in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Tanks, intimate apparel and jewelry will be available for sale, and B Chic will be donating $1 from every item sold to Pink Aid. There will also be a raffle for a B Chic gift bag stuffed with a gift card and other goodies. Mimosas will be served.

Check-Up from the Neck Up:  Free Mental Health Screenings at Wilton Wellness Events

The public is invited to “Get Your Check-Up from the Neck Up” at a free Wellness Month event at the Wilton Family YMCA on Monday, Oct. 26. Events will be offered from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.. Other locations and dates can be found online.

Activities supporting wellness and healthy snacks will be provided. This effort is supported financially by Purdue Pharma, LP and CT Health Foundation.

Screenings in English and Spanish are also available online. Visitors to the site can take a self-assessment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, alcohol use, or eating disorders. Parents can use an online tool to screen for depression in their teenager.
