The following is a message from Wilton Board of Education Chair Ruth DeLuca.
The Board of Selectmen recently approved the formation of a School Building Committee to oversee Wilton’s upcoming school construction projects, and we are now recruiting community members to serve.
The scope of the work in front of us is significant, with more than $100 million in school construction projects on the horizon across our buildings. Wilton’s school buildings serve every family in this town, and getting this committee right, with the right expertise at the table, will directly shape how well our upcoming construction projects are managed. We hope you will consider volunteering your time and expertise.
This committee will play a critical role in how Wilton manages its school facilities work in the years ahead, from reviewing proposals for architectural and engineering services to helping ensure our projects stay on schedule, on budget and in compliance with state reimbursement requirements. Planning is already underway for the first project, at Cider Mill School, where voters approved bonding this spring for a partial roof replacement, site work, door and window replacement and exterior envelope renovations. A request for proposals for architectural services is already out, with responses expected over the next several weeks, and all submissions will come before the School Building Committee for its recommendation. Given that timeline, staffing this committee is a priority.

We are looking for volunteers with relevant professional expertise, including:
- Engineers
- Architects
- Project/construction management
- Public finance
- HVAC (heating, ventilation, industrial hygiene, and air conditioning)
- Industrial/commercial real estate
The School Building Committee falls under the Board of Selectmen, and the Board of Education is working with the Selectmen’s office over the coming weeks to finalize the process for selecting members. This call for volunteers is meant to help move that process along and get the committee organized as quickly as possible.

Please send a short statement of interest along with your resume to the Board of Education via the Board of Education email or to BOE Chair Ruth DeLuca directly.
