Officer Eva Zimnoch received the 2014 Police Officer of the Year award at yesterday evening’s March 26 annual Wilton Police Department Awards ceremony. The award marked the first time a woman had been given the honor.
In addition, several other officers were presented with letters of commendation and awards for various achievements and life saving efforts shown during the last year.
They included:
Citation of Commendation: Capt. John P. Lynch, Det. Peter Trahan, Ofc. Eva Zimnoch and Ofc. Wojciech Brodzinski
Life Saving: Ofc. Diane MacLean and Ofc. Shawn Frendt
Letter of Recognition: Sgt. Robert Kluk, Det. Christopher Isidro (Ret.), Det. Scott Sear, Ofc. Joseph Calorossi, Ofc. Shawn Frendt, Ofc. Eva Zimnoch, Ofc. Anna Tornello and Ofc. Wojciech Brodzinski.
Among the town officials present at the ceremony were first selectman Bill Brennan as well as the Wilton Police Commissioners, Christopher Weldon (chair), Donald Sauvigne (vice chair), and David Waters (secretary).
The ceremony was sponsored by the Wilton Rotary Club.
