Open House Gift Shop will be hosting its annual shopping day today, Wednesday, April 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to benefit the Wilton Relay for Life 2014, the overnight community fundraising event for the American Cancer Society on Saturday, May 31-Sunday, June 1.

Open House will donate 10 percent of the total day’s sales to Wilton Relay for Life in an event they’ve billed a party!

Shoppers will be offered refreshments, a gift with their purchase and they can also participate in raffles and consult with the store’s local Crabtree & Evelyn representative, Liz Walters. In addition, all Vera Bradley merchandise will be reduced to 50 percent off.

“On behalf of the Wilton Relay For Life, I would like to thank Open House for its continued support of our Town’s Relay! The fundraising help from local businesses makes us proud to call Wilton our home,” said Sara Augenbraun, chairperson for Wilton Relay for Life 2014.

Open House has always been a loyal supporter of the Relay for Life event.

“Two years ago, we decided to make the event our spring fundraiser to support two women who work at the store, who are breast cancer survivors. They are both an inspiration to us all for the courage they showed in battling cancer,” said Karen Turner, one of Open House’s managers.

In addition, Brian Perry, who owns the store, is also a supporter of the event. His wife, Patty, is a member of Acoustic Wilton and performs at the Relay. All proceeds from the sale of Perry’s CD sales are donated to fighting cancer.

Open House Gift Shop is located at 9 Center St.. Karen Turner, Nancy Toothaker and Leslie Hueglin manage the store.

Relay will be held on Saturday, May 31st to Sunday, June 1st.  For more information about Wilton Relay for Life 2014, to register or to join a team, visit www.relayforlife.org and search “Wilton” and “Like” Relay on Facebook at www.facebook.com/wiltonrelayforlife2014.  You can also follow Wilton Relay for Life 2014 on Twitter!
