Monday night’s wind gusts swept through Wilton and left some people without power and several others facing Rte. 7 road closure. Wilton High School senior Drew Gumins took some photos of the impact those winds had, including crews attending to a fallen tree and wires on Pine Ridge Rd. as well as the traffic diversion and tie up at the Rte. 7/Cannon Rd. intersection.

UPDATE:  We’ve added additional photos, submitted by a reader, of an enormous tree down and blocking Carriage Ln. at Ridgefield Rd..

Police had closed both lanes of Rte. 7 in the area between Seeley Rd. and Olmstead Hill Rd. due to a large tree and power lines down.

At one point, Eversource reported 248 customers in Wilton without power. By 2 a.m. that number dropped to 17.

Winds yesterday reportedly reached gusts up to 50 mph. The winds will continue through much of Tuesday, Mar. 29. In fact, CT and the whole metropolitan area are under a Wind Advisory until noon Tuesday, with a National Weather Service warning of the possibility of power outages, downed tree limbs and difficulty driving due to the strong winds.
