Wilton Woman’s Club Gives Back During Thanksgiving Week
The Wilton Woman’s Club was busy the week of Thanksgiving, helping different residents of the Wilton community celebrate this holiday of peace and sharing.
On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 25, WWC members and their daughters cooked the ingredients for holiday meals, then came together at Comstock Community Center to put the meals together, package them up, and deliver them to more than 40 homebound Wilton residents. The Village Market donated all containers, and all leftover food was donated to Ogden House.

Also in November, club members purchased and donated everything needed for a complete Thanksgiving dinner, from a turkey to potatoes, vegetables, desserts, and even a tablecloth and candles. The WWC packaged up the items and donated them to Wilton Social Services as part of its Thanksgiving basket program. Last year, Wilton Social Services distributed almost 70 Thanksgiving baskets to Wilton residents in need of Thanksgiving dinner. In addition to donating a basket, WWC members also assisted Social Services staff at the drop off point on Monday, collecting and organizing baskets from other donors.

This is the WWC’s 50th anniversary year. Founded in 1966, the club is a voluntary organization for women of diverse ages, backgrounds and talents, who come together for community service, philanthropy, education, and socializing. The club objectives are to serve and to learn, and it follows this proud tradition while adapting to the changing lifestyles and interests of its members.
Coping with Loss at Holiday Time
Quite often, the holiday season will bring many questions and concerns for people in grief. Wilton Library is offering a program in conjunction with Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County to help people coping with grief and loss during the holidays.
On Thursday, Dec. 3, 2-3:30 p.m., participants are invited to take part in this conversation and gather some ideas and coping strategies for managing the holidays and grief. The presenter is Rev. Karen S. Judd LCSW, an ordained interfaith minister with Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, where she has been providing psycho-spiritual and bereavement counseling to patients’ families and caregivers for more than nine and half years. There is no charge but online registration is strongly encouraged.
The program will be held at Wilton Library, at 137 Old Ridgefield Rd..
