BREAKING NEWS–Thursday, Oct. 25: Wilton Police arrested a Massachusetts man who they say was trying to get an 11-year-old Wilton girl to send him pornographic pictures.
According to a press release Mark Crowley, 56 of Beverly, MA, was arrested and charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Enticement of a Minor after a month-long investigation. He was being held on a $200,000 bond and will be arraigned at the Norwalk Superior Court on Friday, Oct. 26.
In September of 2018 the Wilton Police Department received a complaint of a 56-year-old male contacting an 11-year-old Wilton girl via the Internet. According to the release, Crowley is accused of beginning to “groom” the juvenile victim in an attempt to obtain pornographic images of children.
Wilton Police learned that Crowley lived in Beverly, MA and worked with law enforcement there to obtain arrest warrants and search warrants.
On Oct. 17, 2018 members of the Wilton Police Department went to Beverly, MA and served a search warrant on Crowley’s home. Electronic evidence was seized and he was arrested in Massachusetts and charged as a Fugitive of Justice. He was extradited to Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 25 and charged here in Wilton.
“The members of the Wilton Police Department would like to thank the members of the Beverly Police Department for all of their assistance in locating and charging Mark Crowley,” the release stated.
