It’s just about the time in the New Year when people’s resolutions begin to fade. To help get everyone back on track, Wilton Library is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author Gretchen Rubin to the library on Thursday, Jan. 28, from 7-8:30 p.m. for her paperback launch of Better Than Before. The full title of the book is Better Than Before: What I Learned About Making and Breaking Habits – to Sleep More, Quit Sugar, Procrastinate Less, and Generally Build a Happier Life – hitting just about all the hot buttons for a better New Year.
Rubin is the author of several books, including the blockbuster New York Times bestsellers, The Happiness Project and Happier at Home. The Internet sensation and master blogger has an enormous readership, both in print and online, and her books have sold more than two million copies worldwide, in more than thirty languages. On her popular weekly podcast, ‘Happier with Gretchen Rubin,’ she discusses good habits and happiness with her sister Elizabeth Craft; they’ve been called the ‘Click and Clack of podcasters.’
Finding happiness is also something Rubin knows from experience, having left a career in law and clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
In her provocative yet practical book Better Than Before, which is also a New York Times bestseller, Gretchen turns her attention to the crucial question: How do we change our habits? With her signature mix of rigorous research, easy humor, and personal experimentation, Rubin identifies and illustrates the core principals of habit change. According to the New York Times Sunday Book Review, “Her new book, Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives, serves as a kind of detailed instruction manual on how to achieve [life’s essential goals].”
Karen Danvers, program manager for Wilton Library commented, “The timing of Gretchen’s paperback introduction and her visit to Wilton Library are perfect; with the start of the new year everyone is focused on making things better in their lives, and coming to her talk is a great way to get started or keep motivated. She is a wealth of information and I think the audience will be inspired by what she has to say.”
The purchase of the book, Better Than Before (released in paperback on December 15) is the entry into the event. The price is $16 and includes two seats at the event and one paperback copy of Better Than Before. A portion of the book sales will benefit Wilton Library. All ticket purchases are non-refundable.
