If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck–it must be the first annual Duck Dash sponsored by the Community Nursery School of Wilton (CNSW). The event, on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at Merwin Meadows, will feature hundreds of rubber duckies racing across the pond spurred by the current from a Wilton Fire Department hose.
Ducks cost $10 each and are now on sale at the Village Market from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Sept. 14-15, Sept. 20-21, and Sept. 23. Ducks can also be purchased this Saturday, Sept. 17 at Wilton Hardware from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.. Additionally, people can purchase ducks via email and at the event until 1:45 p.m., just before race time at 2 p.m..
The first four ducks to cross the finish line will be awarded prizes from a prize pot of $1,200. In addition, a portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Wilton Fire Department. “CNSW is committed to supporting our town,” says organizer and CNSW parent Kerry Ray.
The family-friendly event will feature lots of other activities, including inflatables, music, games, face painting and more for everyone to enjoy. There is no cost to attend the event, but some activities, food and refreshments will have a fee.
