Riverdance cast member Meghan Lucey is bringing her Irish dance experience to Trackside Teen Center. Teens in grades 6 and up will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Irish dance in a fun and relaxed learning environment with an instructor who has performed on stage and on screen.

This traditional and iconic form of dance is often a competitive and challenging activity for students, but, says Trackside program director Amy Nassef, the Irish dance class at Trackside will be all about fun and the joy of dancing. Students who participate in Irish dance benefit from improved physical fitness, posture, stamina, flexibility and strength as well as discipline, self-esteem and confidence.

Lucey is certified to teach through An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin, and she has spent the past several years performing across the globe. In addition to touring both abroad and in the US with Riverdance since 2007, Lucey has made several TV appearances, including Riverdance: On Ice in 2011, America’s Got Talent with the Irish Dance/Hip Hop crew Hammerstep in 2013, and The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2015. She also has just completed another run with the National Tour of Riverdance and is looking forward to teaching Irish dance in Wilton.

Beginners are welcome to join, as are students with prior dance experience. Students will not need to purchase new shoes or dance outfits for this class, but comfortable clothing and sneakers are recommended. Students who already own dance or jazz shoes are encouraged to bring them to class. Classes will be held on Mondays from 4-5 p.m. beginning Sept. 19 through Nov. 14. Classes will not be held on days when Wilton schools are closed.

Class registration is available online. A class fee of $120 ($20 per class) may be submitted with online registration, or by check or cash. For more information, contact Trackside program director Amy Nassef at 203.834.2888 or via email.
