The Wilton Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its popular Scarecrow Fest this fall in Wilton Center.

Scarecrow Fest will feature several dozen fun and creatively themed scarecrows adorning Wilton’s street lampposts, decorated and assembled by a variety of businesses, groups and individuals from all over Wilton. For this year’s Fest, the scarecrows will be mounted from Friday, Oct. 20 through Halloween on Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The event is produced in cooperation with Trackside Teen Center, the Town of Wilton, Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of Public Works. It kicks off Wilton’s fall celebration and several family-fun events that follow:

  • Saturday, Oct. 21:  NEW! The Town of Wilton will produce a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt
  • Saturday, Oct. 28:  Halloween Walk and Wilton Center Trick-or-Treating
  • Sunday, Oct. 29:  Halloween Hustle 5K and kids’ Scarecrow Scamper

“The scarecrows really add to the fall festive spirit in town and help make the village come alive,” says Chamber executive director Debra Hansen.

Anyone interested in participating in the Scarecrow Fest by creating a scarecrow can purchase a Scarecrow kit, available in person at the Chamber of Commerce office at 86 Old Ridgefield Rd., on the Chamber website, by calling 203.762.0567 or via e-mail.

The cost of the kit is $30 and includes the wooden post frame and hay to build the scarecrow.

Registration and payment must be received by the chamber by Friday, Sept. 29. Kits may be picked up at Trackside from Thursday, Oct. 5 or Friday, Oct. 6, between the hours of 10 am.-4 p.m. only. Finished scarecrows must be delivered to Trackside on either Monday, Oct. 16 or Tuesday, Oct. 17 only, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m..
