Pssssst! Have you heard about Wilton’s best-kept shoe secret? Shoe designer Peter Finnie has an office here, and once a year he holds a sample sale that people go crazy for.
That sample sale is happening, starting on Monday, Nov. 17.
“We’ve been doing it for years,” explains Peter’s wife, Leslie. “People are always asking, ‘When is the sale? When is the sale?’ It’s been growing through word of mouth and the buzz is nice. They’re beautiful shoes and really high quality. All different heel heights, and the prices are great.”
The Finnies say the prices are below wholesale, ranging from $30-50 for shoes, up to $70-$90 for short booties and boots, some of which usually retail for $225. They’ll have shoes in all sizes from 6-11.
Finnie has been in the shoe business for 30 years, importing and designing women’s shoes and boots. He started a line called Sheridan Mia, named for the Finnies’ daughter. The shoes are manufactured in Spain, Italy and India, and according to the website, the designs are “fabulous, notice-me styles [that women] could wear in comfort…” and they’re made with “…close attention to the craftsmanship and details…executed with an eye to form and fashion.”
His designs are carried in stores like Anthropology, Shoe Inn, Sundance Catalog and more than 250 independent clothing stores around the country.
The sale is run out of Finnie’s office in the Piersall Building in Wilton Center, at 44 Old Ridgefield Rd., starting Monday, Nov. 17, 10 a.m.-6 p.m..
