Kicking off Wilton Go Green‘s outdoor events for the WGG Festival, Woodcock Nature Center will hold its annual “Where the Wild Things Run” 5K Trail Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run on Sunday, May 4.

This 5K course is run almost entirely run on Woodcock’s bucolic woodland preserve, traversing 90 percent groomed trails and 10 percent rugged terrain, narrow bridges and boardwalks. The challenging terrain will highlight the ecological diversity and beauty of the WNC property.

Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages are welcome, although the trail is not stroller friendly.

Preceding the 5K, children can enjoy their own Kids’ Fun Run, taking runners around the grounds and rugged driveway past the Nature Center, Pavilion and over a bridge on the Waterfall trail. This is a fun course appropriate for all ages. Parents are welcome to accompany their children.

Race day registration for both runs starts at 7:30 a.m. at Woodcock Nature Center, 56 Deer Run Rd.. Register in advance online by May 1 and receive a $5 discount off of the $30 adult and $15 child (ages 13 and under) registration fee. The Kids Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m.. T-Shirts will be given to the first 200 participants. For more information, trail map and online registration visit the WNC website.
