A single-vehicle rollover accident on Belden Hill Rd. in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3 sent a 26-year-old Wilton man to Norwalk Hospital when he overturned his car after crashing it into two telephone poles and a mailbox. A neighborhood witness said the car could be heard “going super fast” prior to the “very scary” accident.
According to Lt. Stephen Brennan, the public information officer for the Wilton Police Department, the unidentified driver was headed north on Belden Hill when he veered into the right shoulder of the road, striking the mailbox at 180 Belden Hill Rd. before hitting two telephone poles, at approximately 12:06 a.m.. The car, a 2008 Audi S8, came to rest in a rolled over position.
“The operator was extricated and taken to Norwalk Hospital, where they initiated an investigation for DUI,” Brennan said.
As of press time the investigation was still open and a police report had not been completed.
