Today may be all about preparation for Thanksgiving, which is all about family, being grateful and food; but this Friday and Saturday will be all about shopping. Saturday’s designation as “Small Business Saturday” means Wilton’s local retailers will roll out the red carpet to welcome in shoppers at the start of the holiday gift-buying season.

Blue Star Bazaar, the stylish and fashion-forward store for women and kids, is hosting a fun Custom Sneaker trunk show event on Saturday, Nov. 25 with Brazilian graffiti artist Cleiton Ventura. Ventura will be on hand to help shoppers design pairs of custom sneakers, which would make great, one-of-a-kind gifts for anyone (especially teens). His designs really are works of art–he has created murals for businesses and for parties and bar/bat mitzvahs.

Here’s a bit of full disclosure–for more than 10 years, I’ve known Cleiton and his wife, Angelica, as well as their children, Ryan and Elise, through Angelica’s house cleaning business. They are incredibly GOOD-hearted people and it’s so exciting to see Cleiton start to be recognized for his talent and creativity. He’ll be at Blue Star Bazaar from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday with samples and ideas, and he’d love to help you design something really unique. Just take a look at some of the fun things he’s already done, including a pair for one favorite hyperlocal news website editor!
