Sophilena Coccalis Makrynasios, 46, born on March 14, 1978, in Athens, Greece, passed away on Dec. 4, 2024, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 18 years Vassilios, her son Alexander, her daughter Chloe, and her parents Alexander and Ioanna Coccalis, and their loyal dog Phoebe.
Sophilena earned her Bachelor of Arts in advertising from the University of Texas at Austin. She further advanced her education by obtaining her MBA. Sophilena dedicated the last 14 years of her professional life to L’Oréal.
Sophilena cherished motherhood, finding immense joy in her children’s lives. She enjoyed the companionship of her husband, sharing laughter and love. She looked forward to the summertime when they could all travel back to Greece, a journey that reconnected her with her roots and brought her happiness.
Sophilena cherished the autumn season, finding joy in watching the colors of the trees change and anyone who knew her knew she was a planner. She approached life with meticulous care, always prepared, and even in her passing, she orchestrated her farewell with the same careful planning she was known for.
A funeral service and visitation was held at at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Norwalk on Saturday, Dec. 7. Interment was held privately. To offer online condolences to her family visit the Bouton Funeral Home online.
