Two philanthropic groups at Wilton High School are recruiting participants and donors for upcoming efforts to do GOOD.

Socks for Soldiers

Socks for Soldiers will be hosting its Valentine’s Day Drive from Jan. 14 through Feb. 14. The group is collecting new socks as well as gloves, scarves, and hats for female and male soldiers and veterans. Organizers say the latter items are especially appreciated by the recipients.

The WHS club is assisting Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport, Provisions 4 Patriots in Georgia, and Kick for Nick in Wilton.

The effort is led by students Tyler Casey, Eli Ackerman, and Ryan Leung under the guidance of advisor Dann Pompa.

Collection boxes are located both outside of Pompa’s office in the school counseling wing and in the main lobby.

St. Baldrick’s

On March 15, 2022 the WHS St. Baldrick’s club will be hosting its 14th annual head shaving event at Wilton High School. Any WHS student or staff member can participate and have their hair shaved off by registering online by Sunday, Feb. 20.

Specific guidelines are posted outside the school cafeteria and Pompa’s office in the school counseling wing. individuals may also donate or simply come watch friends participate in the fun.

Anyone with questions can email the student team lead organizer Elijah Ackerman, organizer Ryan Leung or faculty organizer Mr. Dann Pompa.

Thank you for reading this GOOD Morning Wilton article. I hope you find all our reporting helpful and an important part of keeping up on everything in Wilton. Since 2013, GMW has worked hard to bring you timely, independent news that's available to everyone at no cost. No other news source covers Wilton, and only Wilton, full-time. What makes this local public service possible is reader support. Paid memberships fund reporters who bring you next-day news and secure our resources for things like livestreams and getting news to you when it counts. But we can't do this without your support. For as little as $5 a month, a GOOD Morning Wilton membership can keep local, independent news going in Wilton. Please consider supporting us today. Thank you,

Heather Borden Herve, GMW Editor/Publisher
