Person to Person (P2P), in partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and supported by sponsors Cuisinart and Conair, is participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11. This collaborative effort between all three P2P food pantries and local post offices — including Wilton — makes it easy for residents of lower Fairfield County to help restock the P2P pantries.
Food insecurity continues to be a significant challenge in Connecticut, affecting approximately 13% of residents who struggle to access sufficient and nutritious food. This includes over 115,000 children who face hunger daily.
“Working with P2P really shows what we can accomplish when we all pull together. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors, and I love seeing the community support in action,” said NALC Branch 60 Vice President Dominick Frattaroli.
Over the past year, P2P has distributed enough healthy groceries to provide nearly 2.7 million meals through its food pantries in Stamford, Norwalk, and Darien, and through its Door2Door home delivery program — a 14% increase over the previous year. Sustaining this level of service relies heavily on community support through both food and monetary donations.
Person to Person CEO Nancy Coughlin, highlighted the importance of the drive.
“The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a key event that helps us keep our shelves stocked and meet the urgent needs of our neighbors. We hope that everyone in the community who can, will join us in making a difference by donating generously,” she said.
