Sue Marcone, long-time resident of Wilton, CT, loving sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2024.
Sue is survived by her sister Martha; her son Mark, his wife Larisa, and their children Sasha and Michael; her son Matt’s children Emma, Ashley, and Brendon; and by her son Mike and his wife Virginie.
Barbara Sue Michael was born in Jefferson, PA on March 22, 1939, the youngest of
three daughters born to Blair and Jennie Michael. Growing up in nearby Brookville, Sue had an active childhood, was an independent, confident, warm-hearted person, and had a way of attracting a crowd. She was a popular personality, and a cheerleader, at Brookville High.
A few years after finishing school, Sue met Art Marcone. They married in 1962, starting a journey that would eventually take them to Wilton in 1975 with their three sons.
Soon after arriving in Wilton, Sue would enter the real estate industry. She worked with several firms over the course of a successful 40-year career, winning awards along the way. As well as being a successful realtor, Sue was also active in social organizations, working with Newcomers, running the local bowling league, and, as some may remember, championing Wilton’s first women’s softball league.
Most importantly, Sue was a dedicated, loving mother. She was devoted, always there with a supporting word, cooking a favorite meal, giving a thoughtful gift, driving her children wherever they needed, cheering from the stands, or supporting in the audience. She never missed an event.
Later in life, she remained a constant, a known point of support and encouragement for her boys, always there for them when they called. The family will miss her dearly.
Sue and Martha talked a great deal about Sue coming back to Brookville for the annual Michael reunion this year. The family will honor her wishes and bring her home where she will be laid to rest next to her father.
A service for Sue and a celebration of her life will be held at Pisgah Presbyterian Church, 36 Church St., Corsica, PA on July 6, at 12 p.m. All are welcome. To offer online condolences or share memories, visit the Bouton Funeral Home website.
