The Wilton council of the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a free throw contest at Our Lady of Fatima School gym tonight, Friday, Jan. 16. All boys and girls ages 9-14 are eligible to participate.
Signups start at 7:30 p.m.. Participants must have turned 9 years old by Jan. 1, 2015, and proof of age and written parental consent are required.
Winners will have the opportunity to compete in the regional, state and national finals, as part of the nationwide Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship.
According to the organization’s website, the councils have sponsored the championship since 1972. Contestants compete within their own gender and age group. All competition starts at the local level, and winners move on to the district, regional, and state or provincial levels. From there, some make it to the international level for championship competition in their group.
