The Wilton Conservation Commission is hosting a nighttime sky watch event at Slaughter Field this Sunday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m.. Robert Lambert, director of the McCarthy Observatory in New Milford, will lead the stargazing event, and will provide two telescopes for optimal viewing. There will be a campfire with s’mores, hot chocolate and mulled apple cider to enjoy during the evening.
Slaughter Field is located on the corner of Nod Hill Rd. and Piper’s Hill Rd.. Vehicles should park along the side of Piper’s Hill Road. Participants should dress for cool weather and bring a flashlight for safety. There are no bathroom facilities at this location.
Please register via email and include the number of people planning to attend and a phone number to be contacted if the event is cancelled for any reason. Should the weather be inclement or too cloudy for star gazing, the sky watch will be postponed until Sunday, Nov. 20. This gathering is free and open to the public.
