It’s the end of the year, and of course it’s important to think about so many different worthy organizations. We’ve profiled several in our “Season of Giving” series.

The Wilton Library is one such organization that we hope Wilton residents remember when they consider end of year donations. They have two efforts currently running at the library that benefit the institution many refer to as the jewel of Wilton.

First up, there’s the Wilton Library Holiday Book Sale, which has become an annual tradition offering books, CDs, and DVDs in pristine condition; often items are still in their original shrink-wrapped plastic. The selection is continuously updated thanks to the library’s holiday elves who work tirelessly to keep the sale organized and refreshed.

So to is the Library’s Giving Tree a wonderful opportunity for the community to give back to the library.  The “ornaments” on the tree depict items that would enhance the library’s collections.  Patrons simply pick an ornament from the tree and bring it to the circulation desk for purchase.  The item will carry a commemorative bookplate honoring someone or in memory of a loved one when it is placed on the library shelves.

Both the Holiday Sale and the Giving Tree will be available during regular library hours through Monday, Dec. 23.

But there’s one additional way to help the library a little longer, and GOOD Morning Wilton always loves when local businesses team up with a worthy town organization to give back. Bon Appetit Cafe is joining with the Library to raise money by offering a gift certificate that gives back. For every certificate purchased during December and January, the restaurant will donate 20 percent of the certificate’s value to the Library. Sounds like a perfect stocking stuffer! Contact the restaurant, located at 5 River Rd., to purchase.
