Is your high school student stressed and overwhelmed? Trackside Teen Center and S4 Study Skills Workshops are bringing two of their study skills series to Wilton, aimed at helping students develop and maintain key study strategies used for academic success. Whether your student is feeling overwhelmed, overworked, frustrated, or simply wants to do his or her personal best for the rest of this academic year, S4 says its “evidence-based S4 Study Skills workshop will help them reach the path to success.”
“Whether students are looking to acquire basic skills in organization, time management, and executive functioning strategies, or simply looking to improve their overall academic experience, these tools – when used – will help them succeed. Implementing even a single new skill has been shown to boost students’ motivation and academic performance,” says Michelle Sagelyn, president of S4.
Each workshop runs for two sessions, and costs $345. It includes all in-class materials, including that for at-home support.
High School & Beyond, Sunday, Feb 21 & 28, 1:30–4:30 p.m.: High School and Beyond teaches students in 8th grade and above how to assess and apply their learning style to eliminate distractions, stay focused, increase information retention, and improve motivation while deepening their reading and writing skills.
Essential Study Skills for High School Students, Sunday, March 6 & 13, 1:30–4:30 p.m.: In this workshop, students will be taught evidence-based easy-to-implement strategies and systems to be active, engaged and successful in school. Students will learn how to study, organize, manage time, prepare for tests, and use executive functioning strategies – essential skills for today’s academic rigor.
According to a press release, “The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach is designed to clearly demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by experienced teachers. Each class is limited to 15 students.
“Students in Wilton truly benefit from the resources provided by the S4 Study Skills workshops. We’re always happy to host the S4 Study Skills workshops at Trackside because we know that it makes a huge difference for students looking to improve upon their study habits and reach their full potential in school,” says Amy Nassef, Trackside’s program director.
