A new club at Trackside Teen Center is showing some love to homeless pets in the Wilton area. Members of the Crafts for Shelter Pets Club are collecting unwanted, gently used fleece blankets and materials from the community in order to repurpose them into no-sew pet beds. Not only are members learning a fun new crafting project, they are also helping animals in need.
Between now and December, members plan on creating beds of different sizes and shapes which will be given to homeless animals at the CT Humane Society in Westport and Animals in Distress in Wilton. Each pet bed will be designed and completed by hand without a sewing machine.
During the fleece blanket drive, club members are asking Wilton residents to donate unwanted or extra items to assist the club in their efforts. Gently used fleece blankets and fleece material can be dropped off at Trackside at 15 Station Rd.. Extra pillow forms and cotton pillow stuffing, new or gently used, are also very much appreciated.
